President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commissioned Roofings Group’s Phase IV Level 2 rolling mill complex in Namanve, driving Uganda’s push toward domestic steel production, job creation, and industrial self-reliance.

The Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. Sanjay Tanna, has tasked the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) Board to commercialize locally developed prototypes, fabricate agro-processing machinery for SMEs, and expand public awareness to curb Uganda's UGX 5.97 trillion machinery import bill.

The Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. Sanjay Tanna, has held critical trade talks with the Indian High Commissioner, H.E. Upender Singh Rawat, to address a skewed $1.3 billion annual trade deficit. While India offered digital public infrastructure partnerships and an invitation to the September 2026 BRICS Summit, Uganda demanded the removal of restrictions on agricultural exports like milk and cocoa.
